The lottery for the 2025-2026 school year opened on November 9, 2024 and closed on March 1, 2025.
An application can be submitted online anytime after the deadline but will not be included in the lottery and will be entered in the order it was received.
First, create an account by using your email or phone number. Once this is done you will be able to apply to as many schools on your application as you would like.
If you already have an account, you will use this same login information each year that you apply. Take time to decide what best suits your student.
The 2025-2026 school lottery has ended, results were released March 7, 2025 via your preferred communication method.
You will either be made an offer or be placed on a waitlist. You can receive multiple offers, but you can only accept one of the offers.
If you submit an application after March 1, 2025, your application will be placed in line in the order that it was received. The school(s) you applied to will contact you when they have available space.
Once you receive notification of an offer, access your account at www.schoolappkc.org and accept or decline the offers. You can, however, remain on a waitlist while accepting a seat at another school. If you are made an offer from the waitlist at a later date, you can accept that offer but you will be removed from any other school that you previously accepted a seat with. The system will only allow you to hold one seat at a time.
Once you accepted your seat, you will receive enrollment instructions through text and email from the school directly. You will complete your enrollment with the one school that you have selected.

About Us
SchoolAppKC streamlines the school application process for families in the Kansas City Public School boundaries. It is a special project of Show Me KC Schools, a nonprofit with a mission to help parents understand their school options, in partnership with a number of local Kansas City organizations committed to educational equity. Additionally, we are dedicated to supporting our local educational agencies by hosting a Summer Conference every fourth Thursday over the summer in June to empower and support our enrollment teams. Furthermore, every October and January, we host canvassing events to increase enrollment efforts in zip codes that have low enrollment. SchoolAppKC is overseen by our governance council, consisting of 23 local educational agencies.
